Classic Shells

Our Classic range is made from 100% Finnish birch plies with full vertical grain, delivering a drum that has fast attack and great sensitivity. They are sanded, mostly by hand, inside and out and a 45° bearing edge is cut followed by hand-sanded snare beds. These shells make a drum with lots of resonance and sustain and have a large tuning range.

HARDCORE

Our new HARDCORE shells has been designed to add to the Classic a level of warmth and control. This has been achieved using two plies of oak horizontal grain veneer sandwiched between the first and third layer of the Classic shell. The bearing edge is cut so that the drum head sits on the oak plies. We believe this has created a drum akin to well known "recording" series drums from yesteryear.

Finishes

French Polish

This is a perfect finish for acoustic instruments, normally used on the finest acoustic guitars and not only produces a glass- like finish but also does not choke or block the wood's ability to breath, unlike modern lacquers.

We make our own blend of French polish and apply it by hand, normally taking up to 40 fine coats per drum. It has the benefit of being easily repaired if scratched, which is a service we offer all our customers.

Natural Wax

A hardwearing finish applied to our Classic Black and to any Custom drum made for customers who wish a slightly less glossy appearance.
